Investing For Eternity

Swish . It’s the satisfying sound created as the combination of polyester, steel, and nylon embraces an airborne basketball.   The further the ball travels, the louder the sound.

The most proficient in making any crowd erupt from the electrifying melody of his swishes is Stephen Curry.  You may have heard of him.  He has an act from pulling up and launching a basketball from an unnecessarily far distance to add 3-points to his team’s score.  Yet, regardless of how ridiculous the shot attempt, when the ball leaves his hands, we assume — swish.  He has revolutionized the way basketball is played.

Steph’s pursuit of excellence has inspired many to challenge the own limits.  Solomon wrote in Ecclesiastes 3:11, “He has made everything beautiful in its time.  Also, he has put eternity into man’s heart, yet so he cannot find out what God has done from beginning to end.”  He has placed eternity in our heart — This is a beautiful image revealing our desire to be extraordinary is given by God.

Have you ever thought of what being an exceptional manager of your investments may look like?

We believe there are two dimensions in being good stewards of our investments:  the now and the eternal.  The now is focused on investment returns and the volatility (or risk) assumed to achieve said returns.  The eternal is focused on how companies within these investments produce the profit we, as investors, experience.  Are the companies we own distributing pornography or developing abortifacients?  Are they making their communities safer or developing cures for cancer?  Biblically responsible investing’s strive is to excel at performance and risk management while prioritizing the eternal impact.

Regardless of a one good or bad shooting night, Stephen Curry practices.  You can see the joy this man has on the court as he displays the fruit of his labor, making shots or missing them.

Invest returns are important and unpredictable. Investing Biblically responsible is an invitation for us to bless the heart of God, through the highs and the lows.
