Good News Travels Fast
Have you ever been so excited about something that you couldn’t wait to tell someone? There is something in us that can’t wait to share good news with others. We feel a sense of joy when we communicate something good that has happened. (I’ll be excited to share the birth of our 4th grandchild soon!)
We see this playing out in Scripture in John 4. Jesus was traveling through Samaria and met a woman drawing water at a well. Jesus asked her for a drink which led to Jesus revealing the woman’s complicated past and the truth that He was the Messiah. This was the woman’s reaction: “Then, leaving her water jar, the woman went back to the town and said to the people, ‘Come, see a man who told me everything I ever did. Could this be the Messiah?’ They came out of the town and made their way toward him” (vv. 28-30).
But the story continues: “Many of the Samaritans from that town believed in him because of the woman’s testimony, ‘He told me everything I ever did.’ So when the Samaritans came to him, they urged him to stay with them, and he stayed two days. And because of his words many more became believers. They said to the woman, ‘We no longer believe just because of what you said; now we have heard for ourselves, and we know that this man really is the Savior of the world’” (vv. 39-42). Not only was the woman excited to share her good news with others, but they were excited to hear it!
Many investors are excited when they learn they can invest according to their values. And it should be good news we share with others. Knowing that we can help others feel morally satisfied with their investments, should encourage us to share with them that it is possible. Who can you think of today that you can share this good news with? They will be blessed if you do.
